Local tips

A few pointers from our on-the-ground team.

  • Stake a spot at the Rodeo Parade early

The Rodeo Parade on Saturday morning is free, family-friendly, and peak small-town Americana. Stake a spot on Cascade Ave by 9:30AM.
  • Enjoy some quiet time

Camp Sherman (20 minutes north) is where locals go for quiet. The Metolius River, the general store, and the fish-viewing platform make a half-day.
  • Pack layers

Sisters is at 3,200 feet. Days can be hot and nights surprisingly cold, even in August.
  • Stroll shops on Fridays

The Hood-to-Coast style shop strolling is best Friday evenings when galleries host openings.
  • Roadtrip the coast

The drive over Santiam Pass to the coast is one of Oregon’s great road trips, roughly three hours to Newport.
  • Book the Sisters Rodeo and Quit Show a year out

Sisters fills up fast for the Rodeo and Quilt Show. If you’re interested in attending, book a year in advance.
