Local tips
A few pointers from our on-the-ground team.
-
Come here to enjoy quietude
Waldport moves at a slower pace in the best way. For bigger restaurant scenes or busier outings, Newport and Yachats are both an easy drive away. -
Crabbing season peaks late summer
Alsea Bay crabbing is productive year-round, but July through October is when crabs are typically at their fullest and best. -
Plan tide pool visits at low tide
Cape Perpetuaās world-class tide pools are worth timing right. Check NOAA tide charts before heading out for the best experience. -
Take the inland route at least once
The drive along the Alsea River offers a quieter side of the Oregon coast, especially beautiful during fall color season. -
Plan SkÅSH visits accordingly
This local favorite closes Mondays and Tuesdays. Itās always worth checking hours ahead. -
Use Waldport as your midpoint
Yachats fills up on holiday weekends and Newport dominates for big-city amenities. Waldport is your base between the two.
