Fifteen minutes south. One of the most photographed lighthouses on the West Coast. Ground floor is open daily, as weather and staffing permit.

Pronounce it right
Yachats is pronounced āYAH-hots.ā Locals will gently correct you, and then welcome you like family. -
Track the tides
Cape Perpetua tide pools at low tide are world-class. Check the NOAA tide chart when planning your visit. -
Never turn your back to Thorās Well
Thorās Well is dangerous. Stay well back at high tide, and always face the ocean. Sneaker waves have taken lives. -
Plan beach time with fog in mind
Fog often burns off by 11AM. Morning beach walks can be cool and atmospheric, afternoons usually warmer. -
Grocery options are limited
The nearest full grocery is in Newport, 25 minutes north, or Florence, 25 minutes south. -
Try to visit midweek for a quieter experience
Summer and holiday weekends book out months ahead. Midweek visits feel like a different, quieter town.
