Second floor, bright oceanfront condo w ocean view, pool access,

The condo was very clean, beds were comfortable, and we had everything we needed. View of parking lot which got a teeny bit loud in the morning and the primary bedroom is right off the elevator so we could hear people getting on and off really clearly but it wasn’t a super busy floor so that wasn’t too bad. The property itself is really old and tired. Pool interior looks it was redone and was a pleasant temperature. Pool is right up against the sand dunes so if you sit on the side closest to the beach the flies/knats/mosquitos are annoying and there are tiny ants on the ground everywhere so you don’t want to put your feet down on the ground so spend your time at the beach instead. They had a nice walkway to the beach and the beach chairs and umbrella were great quality. Beach was not busy at all (we were there late August) and beautiful with no seaweed. Saw some fish and one big jelly fish that washed up but otherwise clear waves and white sand with warm ocean!! The location of the hotel was great. Off the super busy roads of Destin but still easy to go into Destin and surrounding areas. Food options were scarce and sub par. Burritos del Sol was good but skip Maui bus stop or the sushi place. Go into Destin to eat. If you like less crowds Fort Walton is your jam. We also stayed at the Residence Inn Fort Walton Beach and it wasn’t on the water but a pretty location on the bay and a newer nicer property with a pool and spacious rooms for a family. We had a great stay at the Islander but if you’re looking for a place with all the ammenties and family stuff, etc look elsewhere. If you want just a place to stay with walking distance to the beach this is a good option. Like I said, the unit itself was beautiful and redone with cute beachy decor and a good spot for your family of 6.
