Permit #: 030008 Occupancy: 10 Nestled on a tree-lined lot next to open space, this 2,300 square-foot 4BR/3BA home boasts two primary suites and a gorgeous Great Room overlooking the back deck. Step out to the deck to relax in the lounge area, or make use of the gas grill and host a cookout. Light the gas firepit to enjoy s'mores and conversation beneath tall trees and starlit skies. Downtown Truckee is only one mile from your door, and miles of hiking and biking trails are out the back door. Drive and explore Northstar and Squaw Valley. Sparkling Donner Lake is moments away for summertime fun. Exposed beams and soaring vaulted ceilings in the Great Room give the space a warm ski lodge vibe. Settle into comfortable furnishings and enjoy the warm ambience of the gas fireplace. Find an array of board games, books, and DVDs in the entertainment center, along with 50in TV with a soundbar. The chef in your party will feel right at home in the roomy kitchen. Pour a glass of wine and perch at the kitchen bar while dinner simmers. Enjoy meals in the elegant dining space. Complimentary WiFi, air-conditioning, and a washer/dryer are provided. Two primary suites feature king beds and smart TVs. The first has an en-suite bathroom with a big walk-in shower, and the second has direct access to the deck and an en-suite bathroom with a stone vanity and a walk-in shower. The guest room has a cozy queen sleigh bed, while the fourth bedroom has two twin beds. The 12-foot ceiling bonus room features two full-over-full bunk beds and a separate area for lounging and watching tv. Another bathroom has a tub/shower combination and a stone vanity. Public amenities include family-friendly skiing at Tahoe Donner Ski Resort, sledding, and tubing at Snowplay, or discover 100 km of trails at the Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. In the summer, check out Tahoe Donner Golf Course and explore over 60 miles of hiking trails in the area. To venture out on horseback, visit the Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center. The house itself was great — spacious, comfortable, and the bunk room was a hit with the kids. It worked well for our group overall. One of the key reasons we chose this property, however, was the advertised access to the Trout Creek Rec Center. The listing mentioned 8 passes, which was perfect for our group size. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we only found 6 passes. I contacted Vacasa multiple times and was told they'd follow up with the local office to get the missing two. After waiting all day and making additional calls, we finally heard back on day two — only to be told that homes in Truckee/Donner are only allowed 6 passes, not 8. This was frustrating, especially since access to the pools and rec center was a major factor in our decision to book. A few small housekeeping issues also came up, which added to the inconvenience. That said, we really did enjoy the home itself — it’s just unfortunate that the rec center access and communication issues put a bit of a damper on an otherwise great stay.

A true gem indeed! This house is so warm and inviting, we felt that from the moment we walked through the front door. Each room is beautifully decorated and has been set up with all that you need for a relaxing stay. Located in a great neighborhood close to skiing, hiking and the charming town of Truckee, this home is a perfect spot to enjoy all the area has to offer. Everything was impeccably clean and super comfortable. There’s even a bonus bunk-house room with lots of extra sleeping options and a great space for kids of all ages. A fully equipped kitchen with coffee bar, cozy fireplace, large great room, comfortable beds … this house has it all. We especially loved the view from the back of the house and deck. The night sky and stars were breathtaking from the backyard. The house is spacious and the perfect place for families and friends to enjoy time together. We had a wonderful stay at the Bernese Gem. Communication was great and the attention to detail both in the home and throughout the reservation process is much appreciated. We would highly recommend this lovely home and can’t wait to visit again!!

We would love to stay here again. The house has everything you need for a fun and relaxing stay. The kitchen has everything you need for great home cooking - all kinds of spices, utensils, pots, and pans etc. The living area and kitchen are spacious, inviting, and cozy. The fireplace and the custom cabinetry throughout the home made it feel luxurious. The big windows and spacious deck, with gas fireplace, really helped us to appreciate the beautiful surroundings. The bedrooms are spacious and well appointed with comfy beds and everything else needed. The bunk room is huge and stylish (eight people could sleep in there). You can literally take a few steps off the deck and be on a 1.5 mile trail to beautiful Donner Lake. Or, you can take a beautiful walk in the opposite direction, on a paved trail, into town. Truckee is a fun town with many eating and shopping choices, and there are 5 or 6 ski resorts that are really close by. And, of course, Lake Tahoe is close and stunningly beautiful. You will love it here. And, on a clear night, after a nice dinner, just turn out the lights, walk out onto the deck, and look up. Fabulous star gazing that will confirm that you made the right choice.

We have been lucky enough to spend few days in this house to visit Tahoe and we had a blast Very close to Truckee where you can get anything you’d need, the house itself is a great spot for a family, the bedrooms are decorated with a nice touch, beds are so comfy, and it’s so nice to wake up with a cup of coffee and see all the chipmunks running :) We loved it and hope we can get back one day!
