Overview
Experience a gorgeous piece of Mt. Hood history at this handcrafted Brightwood cabin, a historical woodland retreat constructed by master carpenter Henry Steiner in 1939. You'll enjoy two private decks, an outdoor firepit, beautiful views of the surrounding forest, and a wondrous location on the shores of the Sandy River!
One of 30 similar homes constructed by the Steiner family, this charming cabin sits among firs, pines, and cedars on the banks of the Sandy River. Each summer, you'll enjoy easy access to fishing and kayaking on the river, hiking trails in the Wildwood Recreation Site, half a mile south, and 27 holes of golf at the Mt. Hood Oregon Resort, two miles southeast. Come winter, you'll have your choice of Mt. Hood ski slopes: 13 miles to Skibowl, 14 miles to Summit, and 20 miles to Timberline. And always come home to a clawfoot tub and lovely details like hand-carved stairs and natural wood railings.

The mold in this cabin will likely make you feel sick by the end of your stay. My partner and I had to spend an entire day resting and washing all our belongings upon returning home. The mold smell was especially noticeable in the bathroom.
There is a sign that requests guests remove their shoes, but there were nails sticking up from the floor enough to scrape up your foot.
The roof seems to need repair, since you can see water damage on the ceiling, but it didn't rain during my stay so I don't know if it would have actively leaked.
The cabin is otherwise functional. the beds are comfortable, the wifi is good, and the kitchen is functional (although the ventilation is dubious). The river is just a few steps away and it's a gorgeous area.
Overall I was disappointed in the quality of the lodgings, but I spent as much time as I could outside and was able to enjoy my vacation.

We were looking for a rustic older cabin with reasonable comfort and a forested location. This cabin "Zoe's Cabin" fit the bill. It was built in 1939 using whole logs. The carpentry is fascinating. The cabin has been improved and updated over the years to improve the comfort, but the original ambience and appearance was preserved. It was very clean and tastefully decorated. The bathroom is small but fully functional. The Kitchen is well stocked with whatever you need to cook your meals. There is a TV upstairs and downstairs. Wifi is provided. There is a bedroom downstairs with a small bed. Upstairs there is a king bed and twin bed in the same room. Though not well insulated, there is a propane heater and numerous space heaters available (no problem staying warm). Outside there is the constant sound of the river which is fairly close. Tall trees are all around and neighbors are far enough away you don't notice them. There is a firepit out front that is well made. (Bring your own wood). Out back there is a porch with comfy chairs that overlook the river. Off to the side is a deck that has a propane fire table. Management was pretty good but I did have to ask for additional info several times. They always get back fairly often. Description of the cabin is mostly accurate but needs to be updated. For the most part it is better than described. Be sure to bring some jugs of purified water for drinking, making coffee or cooking. The water tastes bad.

This is a quaint and cozy cabin where we spent a couple of days venturing out for walks, reading and watching the screen. Do not expect perfection! You are staying in a cabin and that is fine with me. The stairs to the upstairs bed are a bit tricky (especially coming down!) but you just need to pay attention.

Great little cabin in the forest and on a charming creek. So quiet and relaxing. People live next door but hey were quiet and we never really saw them.
