Overview
Experience the ineffable beauty of the Oregon Coast when you plan a getaway at this endearing two-bedroom Florence vacation rental. Guests will encounter all the comforts of home in this charming sky blue oceanside house.
Overlooking beautiful Heceta Beach and the Pacific Ocean, you are mere steps away from the water's edge when you stay at the Pelicans Perch. You'll be enchanted by the wide open vistas, rolling waves, and a 10-mile stretch of pristine, sandy beach. Pack a picnic and spend the day exploring the coast, or less than a half of a mile's walk along the shore is the Surfside Restaurant for lunch with a view.
The exterior of the home greets its guests with cheerful color and a wooden deck that offers a lovely ocean view. When the sun is shining, there's a gas grill for burgers and steaks, or you can just lounge on the patio chairs and socialize with a glass of wine. A nice green space in the back ensures children and canine guests have ample room to romp. And since it's all on one level, this home is ideal for children or older guests who may not want to navigate stairs.
When you step inside, you'll find a charming emulsion of wood-paneled walls and white accent furnishings. A row of picture windows provides a portal to view dramatic winter storms or simply enjoy the sight of infinite waves while seeking shelter in the living room. Pull up the ottoman for a closer gaze out at the water, or settle back on one of the plush sofas. After a day of browsing the galleries and shops in Old Town, come back to relax in your beach cottage and spend the evening watching movies on the TV, which includes cable and a DVD player. The old-fashioned wood burning stove with quaint brick overlay will provide warmth and ambiance during chilly coastal nights.
The galley-style kitchen is well equipped to prepare everything from early morning breakfasts to late night snacks. All the major appliances including a refrigerator, stovetop/oven, microwave, toaster and coffee maker are at hand. There's no need to spend lavish amounts of money at restaurants - you can purchase fresh ingredients while strolling about town and cook authentic seafood cuisine in your perfect beach house. There isn't a dishwasher, but you can always let the dishes soak while you head out to the beach instead for a stunning ocean sunset!
Of course, if you aren't in the mood to mix and stir, a variety of dining options are only six miles away in Old Town. Hit the Beachcomber Tavern for classic fish and chips, the Waterfront Depot for its famous crab-crusted halibut, or even pick up Thai take-out to enjoy front of the fireplace.
When the lull of the ocean has you nodding off and ready to sleep, there are two bedrooms that offer peaceful repose. The bright and tidy master bedroom features a queen-sized bed, calming decor, a large closet to store your personal belongings, and an en suite bathroom. It also has reading lamps and its own TV so you can snuggle in for a few chapters of your latest read or stay up late surfing the channels.
The second bedroom is fitting for children or guests who don't mind shared sleeping quarters. Colorful quilts adorn the queen-sized bed and twin bed in this room, which also includes a bedside table and reading lamps. A second full bathroom is located just down the hall.
When you lay out the sleeper sofa in the living room, this home will comfortably accommodate seven guests. Two furry friends can also accompany you to join in the fun and play on the beach, though a nightly fee per dog and minimum fee per stay will apply. Wi-Fi is also included so you can update your social media or research restaurants.
Guests who seek adventure will not be disappointed when they visit the Florence region. There are many inland lakes and the Suislaw River for fishing, as well as deep sea fishing charters departing right from the coast at Florence and farther south at Coos Bay. Less than an hour's drive south will take you to the gorgeous Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area where you can watch the ATVs and dune buggies navigate the sand or rent your own wheels and try it yourself.
Just across the street from the soothing rise and fall of ocean waves, you are sure to love your stay at the darling Pelican's Perch and to depart with memories that last a lifetime.

We loved our stay here. It is right across the street from the trail/access to the beach and there is a lovely view of the ocean from the balcony and front windows. The place was actually cuter than expected. Kitchen is updated and equipped. Bedding and beds comfortable with extra blankets in the closet. Some furniture a bit old, but kind of gives it character. Appreciated the closet off the deck with chairs & beach toys. Great little spot for sure!

We never could enter the premises as the lock box was so corroded it would not take any of the codes that five different operators tried to help us with. The local management never answered the phone so they could come with the key and let us in. The lawn was 3 ft tall and full of weeds and thistles so it was not dog friendly at all as advertised. We ended up having to drive 3 hours back home again as we never could stay there.

Super cozy and cute house right by the entrance to the beach. We were a bit disappointed that the house didn't have a DVD player like it said it did. Additionally, the house got a bit hot and humid aside from us opening all the windows and bringing out the fan, but for the most part we felt right at home.

This stay was great! The location was perfect and it was nice to use the wood stove for a chilly night. Beds were comfortable. Shower was really hot. The view from the porch and being able to watch the sunset from the sofa was lovely!
My only issue was difficulty in contacting the property management since the email with the key code did not actually have a code listed, so I messaged twice and didn't get a response. I called the phone number from the emails and nobody answered, four calls over an hour time, even letting it ring for up to 11 minutes. The phone number in the listing wasn't a working number. I finally googled the company and used the chat function to talk with someone. I did the things they said and still didn't get the code. They chatted with their tech people then sent the code via chat. So, after three hours, I got the code. Luckily I was en route rather than waiting on the porch. I would still rent this place again, though.
