Mermaid is perfect for a small family or a couple's vacation. This home has been carefully planned for comfort and enjoyment! You will love spending time in this beautiful coastal home. When you step into the home you will find that the living and dining room, as well as the kitchen, are all open to each other making it perfect to watch your children play or having an easy conversation with friends. In the living room there is a sleeper sofa, a child's size table, lots of toys and games, along with a TV/DVD/VCR entertainment center and stereo clock. There are two bedrooms in this home and both have a large bed. The main bedroom has a sliding glass door to the back patio and yard which is complete with picnic table and lawn chairs. There is a myriad of books and travel guides, along with a fabulous binder, chocked full of information about local places to visit and enjoy. There is even an array of cookbooks for your cooking delight. This gem is centrally located being just three blocks to downtown, three blocks to the great Manzanita city park, and only three houses from the beach, allowing you to listen to the cresting waves as you relax and refresh. The Mermaid house is so loved for its tasteful simplicity and homey atmosphere that many visitors return to stay here year after year. THINGS TO KNOW There is no AC available

The Mermaid house is in a prime location and is perfect for a small family or 4 adults. The amenities are somewhat dated but the house is generally clean and has 50’s charm. Communication with the property management was disappointing. The garbage bins were full upon our arrival and we had to stack our garbage in the kitchen to keep away from critters. We called property management and were told that local management was notified but no steps were taken. There were also several piles of dog feces in the front yard when we arrived that had clearly been there for a while. It would have been nice if these had been picked up before new guests arrive. All in all we enjoyed our stay and the house was perfect for what we needed.

We never made it out because my wife was unexpectedly admitted to the ER. I reached out to Vacasa right after the incident (about 4 days to check in time) to see if I could get a credit for a future week. They told me to talk to Whimstay as I booked it through them. Whimstay responded and said they couldn't do anything because it was Vacasa's call. Whimstay reached out twice to Vacasa to see if they could do anything. Vacasa told Whimstay both times that they were "unable" to accommodate a credit for a future stay and I would be charged the full amount. I then called Vacasa directly and again they said they were "unable" to do it. My airline had a no cancellation policy and they gave me a full refund. Vacasa is not "unable" to help out, they were simply unwilling. I was really disappointed in the way this was handled. We would have loved to be there rather than in the hospital and are planning on getting there in the near future - but not with Vacasa.

Not the fees. The fees are too high, $600 on a $1,500 plus another $270 in taxes. And I have no idea what Vacasa did for that $750 plus fee.
